Asalam aleikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh. I am a victim of this all the time May Allah make it easy for me. We need to learn how to hold our tongues and only speak as and when necessary. My mother told me something that will take me a while to forget and as hard as it gets to put in practice, the times I do it, it saves me alot and I usually get more out of it. She told me to not always have an opinion, to not always have something to say about everything even when I know it. To sometimes just listen and keep le mouth shut. By Allah this will only grant you good and that is from experience.
Lets avoid talking just because we feel the need to. Lets try to make our words count because we will have to account for them at some point. You can never be faulted for saying nothing!
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, the servant may say a word for no reason other than to make people around him laugh, yet by it he plunges farther than the distance between the heaven and earth. Verily, a man stumbles with his tongue worse than he stumbles with his two feet.” Source: Shu’ab al-Imān 4484
Ya Allah please make the words that come out of my mouth sweet to those that hear them and may I only utter that is good to me on the dunya and akhira. May I only say that which pleases you and keep away from that which will earn me your wrath. May my words make a great impact on all that they land on. Ya Allah keep us upon the truth!
Al Ghashiyah 19-21
وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ – 88:19
And at the mountains – how they are erected?
وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ – 88:20
And at the earth – how it is spread out?
فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ – 88:21
So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder.
